The TexShare Card allows you to directly
borrow books and other library materials from the
collections of over 500 TexShare member libraries
throughout the state.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the TexShare Card Program,
you must:
- Be in good standing at your home library.
The TexShare Card is a privilege for those who
have proven that they can use library services
in a responsible manner.
- Present valid identification along with the
TexShare Card in order to borrow materials from
participating TexShare libraries.
- Return materials to the library from which
they were borrowed, not to your home library.
- Return materials in person or by any other
methods as outlined in the library's lending
policy.
- Be responsible for any charges for late, damaged,
or lost materials.
Lending policies are made by the individual
libraries that participate in the TexShare Card
program. Because of this, lending policies may vary
from library to library, so be sure to check the
lending
policies for the library you wish to use.
How to Participate
To take advantage of the TexShare Card Program,
follow these simple steps:
1. Apply for a TexShare Card at the circulation
desk of your home library.
2. See the TexShare website for a list
of participating libraries and specific lending
policies of the libraries you wish to visit.
3. Present your TexShare Card at the reciprocating
library's circulation desk to activate your checkout
privileges. You will be also required to show
a photo ID.
4. Check out the books or other materials at the
circulation desk of the reciprocating library.
It is your responsibility to take care of your
borrowed materials and return them on time.
The TexShare Card does not grant access to the
TexShare
Databases. They are separate programs. Be sure
to check with your home
library to see if they participate in the TexShare
Card Program.
